Our Story

A Legacy of Community Conservation
In 1995, our journey began as part of the Koyiaki-Lemek Community Wildlife Trust, a pioneering effort to protect the Maasai Mara ecosystem while honoring traditional land stewardship.
Seeking greater autonomy and a more direct path to prosperity, the Lemek community pooled their individually titled lands in 2009 to form the Mara Lemek Conservancy.
Today, it stands as a testament to community-driven conservation, demonstrating that wildlife protection and community development can thrive together.
Where the Wild Roams Free
Located in the northern Maasai Mara, our land is defined by breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary biodiversity. The conservancy serves as a critical corridor for wildlife migration.
